Three Things to Know When Onboarding Your Teammates to Notion (Notion training)

Having a team to call your own and be proud of is just one of the many perks of running a business. But there are some things you should know before you start onboarding your team to your Notion workspace.

  • Give them the right access.

Not everyone needs full editing power, and that's okay. Be intentional about whether someone gets to just view, comment, or edit. Because too much access can cause accidental changes. So, just find a way to give everyone the right placement.

  • Know the difference: Members vs Guests

Keep your structure clean by only giving guests access to what they need. Not every page should be open to everyone.

  • Ask them to add a profile picture or brand-aligned avatar

This sounds small, but it makes a huge difference. When you're tagging people, assigning tasks, or tracking updates, it'll be easier to recognize your teammates at a glance.

Always remember that Notion works best with your team on board. So, try to take a few minutes during onboarding to give your team members all the information they need, and save yourself hours of confusion later.
